Bathrooms For Kids

Well, perhaps not bathrooms exclusively for kids. Kid-friendly would perhaps be a better way of putting it. A family bath has to be designed with the whole family in mind, but you also need to allow for the fact that kids have an annoying habit of growing up and getting taller.

Some people go to the lengths of lowering the countertop, and this will work for a while. However, two years down the line, the kids have grown another 9” taller. There is an additional problem, which is that if the sink or sinks are low enough for the kids, an adult has to bend over in order to use them. A better idea is to include a lift out step stool in the bottom drawer or cupboard below the vanity which the kids can use until they grow taller. Then when it is no longer needed, you can remove it and you will have more storage space.

Anti-Scald Faucets

You can install a tub that has a graduated step down into it in order to make access easier for the children. You can also include faucets that have anti-scald valves which will prevent children from hurting themselves. In addition, you could install bars that are adjustable in the shower, which can be raised as the children grow. An extra hand held shower head positioned in the tub can make it easier to rinse shampoo from the children’s heads.

When considering drawer pulls, D-handles are far easier for little fingers to use than knobs. Towel rings are easier to use than towel bars. If you have towel bars, you will often find that the towels end up on the floor. Hooks for robes are also a good idea. Fresca Bath makes a number of towel rings and hooks for the bathroom in brushed sliver or chrome finishes.

Soft-Close Toilet Seats

Opt for a loo that has a soft-close seat and lid. It will save a lot of headaches that go with toilet seats being banged down.

You are also going to need a lot of storage space for kid stuff, including all their bath-time toys. Fresca Bath offers a number of cabinets for the bathroom, both free-standing and wall mounted. Cabinets with doors keep the bathroom looking a lot tidier than those with open storage shelves, which is important when you have visitors. You could also opt for a decorative toy box if there is sufficient floor space to store it.

Tiles need to be non-slip in order to avoid falls. Larger tiles are better, because there are less lines of grout to keep clean.

Other Accessories

You will also need things like toilet roll holders, soap dishes, toothbrush holders, lotion dispensers, and so on. This is where Fresca Bath excels, offering a range of different bathroom accessories, including soap baskets in chrome and brushed nickel, toothbrush holders, robe hooks, glass shelving, corner shelves in glass or wire baskets (very useful for extra storage), and a whole lot more.
